Salesforce needed to accelerate developer adoption of their AI Agents platform across APAC markets. We designed and executed a multi-channel developer engagement campaign that combined community-driven programming, curated hackathons, and conversion-focused digital campaigns to build a thriving ecosystem of AI Agent builders. The campaign delivered a 4x increase in platform sign-ups and established Salesforce as the go-to AI Agent platform for enterprise developers in the region.
The Challenge
Salesforce's AI Agents platform was technically strong but adoption was lagging behind internal targets. Enterprise developers were aware of the platform but not actively building on it. The existing marketing was product-focused rather than developer-focused — it spoke to decision-makers, not builders. Without hands-on developer engagement, adoption remained theoretical. Competing platforms were capturing developer mindshare through community-first strategies.

We mapped the developer journey from awareness to active builder and identified three key gaps: discovery, first build experience, and community belonging. We addressed discovery through targeted content campaigns on developer-preferred channels. First build experience through curated hackathons with real enterprise use cases. Community belonging through an ongoing developer forum and champion programme. Every touchpoint was instrumented to track progression from awareness to active platform usage.
The Solution
A three-part developer engagement engine: targeted digital campaigns driving developers to hands-on workshops and hackathons, a curated developer forum creating ongoing peer-to-peer learning, and a champion programme rewarding and amplifying the most active builders. We ran six hackathons across APAC, each focused on a specific enterprise AI use case, with Salesforce engineers as technical mentors. The forum became self-sustaining within four months.
